Musical Discoveries in Early Childhood – A Mini Conference

COME OUT TO THE HEALTH MUSEUM AND PARTICIPATE IN THIS MINI CONFERENCE DESIGNED FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATORS AND CAREGIVERS. PARTICIPATION IN THE CONFERENCE INCLUDES PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT HOURS TO MEET REQUIREMENTS IN THE TEXAS MINIMUM STANDARDS.

Lunch is BYOL and the agenda is as follows:

Session 1: 2A   10:00-11:30 AM

Do Re Mi, ABC, 123, You and Me: Music in the Classroom for Well-being                     

Presenter: Karina Melara, MM, MT-BC, NMT
This workshop is designed to teach early childhood educators on the ways to use music for the cognitive, communicative, motor, and psycho-social domains of the brain in the classroom. Sections are categorized by the different domains.

Music and Me! : An Interactive, Developmental Music Workshop for Children and Caregivers

Presenters: Carolyn Moore, Ph.D, MT-BC; Karen Miller, MT-BC
Caregivers intuitively know that engagement in music experiences benefits their child’s development. Children (ages birth to 4) and their caregivers are invited to participate in this interactive music group! Board-certified music therapists will facilitate age-appropriate musical experiences that address children’s developmental needs (social, sensorimotor, cognitive, speech/language) and provide tips and tricks for incorporating music into everyday routines.

Musical Discoveries in the Museum: Interactive BIORHYTHM Scavenger Hunt/ Make & Take

Presenter: D’Wana Henderson, BAS ECE, Science Educator
Music and sound are all around us! Patrons will have the opportunity to explore BIORHYTHM: Music and the Body as they take part in an interactive Scavenger Hunt and Musical Make &Take to discover how music moves the body.
